Timeline for Implementation
AST announced in its October/November 2010 Instructors Newsletter that they anticipate the new 6th edition of the Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology (CCST6e) will be
released at the end of January 2011 and available at the February 2011 Instructors Forum in San Antonio, TX.
Consistent with Standard III.C. of the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for Educational Programs in Surgical Technology, applicant and accredited programs must transition from the previous edition to the new CCST 6th Edition within a timeline for implementation determined by the ARC/STSA.
As with prior curriculum transitions, the ARC/STSA Board of Directors has determined that CAAHEP-accredited and applicant surgical technology programs should enjoy ample time to complete the transition and implement the CCST6e.
As a result, the ARC/STSA is providing a 2 year window for implementation requiring programs to provide evidence of Core Curriculum for Surgical Technology, 6th Edition
compliance on or before January 1, 2013.
Please watch the ARC/STSA website (www.arcstsa.org) for additional CCST6e announcements in 2011 and 2012
