Committees
The ARC/STSA has one standing committee, the Subcommittee on Accreditation for Surgical Assisting (SASA). Periodically, volunteers are appointed to serve on task forces and other ad hoc committees. As additional volunteer opportunities become available on committees and task forces, they will be announced on this page, so check back!
SASA
The Subcommittee on Accreditation for Surgical Assisting (SASA) of the ARC/STSA reviews and assesses educational programs in the field surgical assisting for compliance with the CAAHEP Standards and Guidelines for the Accreditation of Educational Programs in Surgical Assisting and forwards accreditation recommendations to the ARC/STSA Board of Directors for review, consideration and approval.
In addition, the SASA is charged with regularly assessing the surgical assisting Standards and Guidelines for currency and pertinence within the education communities served by the SASA and ARC/STSA, reviewing policies and procedures related to surgical assisting accreditation services of the SASA and ARC/STSA; and, assessing issues and activities related to surgical assisting accreditation.
The SASA is comprised of three members appointed by the sponsoring organizations of the SASA in accordance with the ARC/STSA’s organizational Bylaws, including of two educators from the profession of surgical assisting and one academic dean of allied health.
