New Self-Study Report and Timeline for Initial and Continuing Programs

Join staff for an overview of the new Self-Study document and timeline, followed by a question-and-answer session.

As announced in January, comprehensive reviews of CAAHEP-accredited surgical technology and surgical assisting programs moving into or renewing continuing accreditation status will include a self-study component beginning in the spring of 2027 to meet CAAHEP’s revised policy 206.

The new Self-Study Report will be sent to all programs to be scheduled for a site visit in 2027. This includes any surgical technology and surgical assisting programs moving into or renewing continuing accreditation status whose CAAHEP decision letter states their next comprehensive evaluation of the program, including an on-site review, is scheduled to occur no later than 2027. These visits will take place beginning in April 2027, to provide at least nine months lead time to review and complete the new Self-Study.

The New Self-Study Report will also be completed by initials with site visits tentatively scheduled beginning in May 2027.
