ARC/STSA educators play a crucial role in shaping the next generation of surgical technologists and surgical assistants, ensuring they are prepared to meet the demands of the operating room and advocating for their patients. Professional development is essential as it not only enhances skills and knowledge but also contributes to the overall success of their programs. By staying current with accreditation requirements, best practices, and educational methodologies, educators can provide a more comprehensive curriculum to further foster student success. Investing in continuous learning is key to maintaining program excellence, and compliance with accreditation standards.

We at ARC/STSA are pleased to announce very exciting professional development opportunities for our educators in 2025. The ARC/STSA Scholarship program has been restructured to support your professional development as a surgical technology or surgical assisting educator, and/or program director, with funding from the Chris Keegan Memorial Educator Scholarship. Chris Keegan, MA, CST, FAST was a surgical technology program director, volunteer leader of the ARC/STSA, and advocate of professional growth for educators. In her memory, the scholarship has been redesigned to empower educators by providing financial assistance and access to AccredX for those committed to advancing their expertise, improving their programs, and contributing to the success of future surgical technologists. Look for scholarship application information next month on the ARC/STSA website Resources page and February eNews.
