Join us in welcoming Kristy Pierce, BS, CST, to the ARC/STSA team. Kristy joined the ARC/STSA staff on May 1, 2023, as the accreditation manager. She will oversee and coordinate all site visit activities of the ARC/STSA to help fulfill our mission to provide accreditation services that validate excellence of educational programs and ensure quality patient care.

Pierce brings a forward-thinking and solutions-focused approach to her work and a passion for the field of surgical technology. She comes to the ARC/STSA from Pittsburgh Technical College where she served as the surgical technology program director and academic chair of the School of Healthcare. Prior to transitioning into higher education in 2010, Kristy worked as a CST for 8 years while working towards her Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.

“I have been working with ARC/STSA for over a month now and have enjoyed getting to know more about the site visit procedure. We have great volunteers and I hope that we continue to recruit more to help with the accreditation process,” said Pierce. “I have been working with accreditation for many years as a program director and consider myself a self-proclaimed ‘accreditation nerd.’ Quality education for surgical technologists and surgical assistants is vital, so ensuring there is a proper review process is key. I look forward to enhancing the process with more education for the Site Evaluators and making it easier for everyone involved.”

In her free time, Pierce enjoys camping and quality time with her friends and family. She and her husband, Chris, enjoy spending their time at the theater and baseball fields supporting their two children, Kendall and Carter.
