
Korrine Anderson, CST, BSAS, MHHS, is the Program Director for Surgical Technology and Sterile Processing at Lorain County Community College (LCCC), where she proudly began her academic and professional journey. A graduate of LCCC’s Surgical Technology program, Korrine went on to complete both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees through the college’s University Partnership program—an opportunity that shaped her commitment to accessible, high-quality education.
With over a decade of hands-on experience in the operating room, including at MetroHealth and the Cleveland Clinic, Korrine brings real-world expertise to her leadership and instruction. Her passion for teaching stems from a deep personal connection—she has sat in the very same seats her students now occupy. This shared experience fuels her dedication to preparing future surgical technologists with the technical excellence, compassion, and confidence required to advocate for patients at their most vulnerable.

Melissa Carnahan, BS, CST, is a Certified Surgical Technologist with 25 years of experience specializing in orthopedic and neurosurgery, as well as organ and tissue donation. She currently serves as the Program Director of the Surgical Technology Program at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she is deeply committed to educating and mentoring the next generation of surgical professionals.
In addition to her leadership in the classroom, Carnahan contributes to the profession on a national level as a Volunteer Accreditation Site Evaluator for the ARC/STSA. Her dedication to excellence in both surgical practice and education is matched by her ongoing advocacy for patient safety and the professional growth of surgical technologists.

Heather Gasaway, MaEd, CST, with more than 25 years of experience in the surgical technology field, Heather has been employed with Stark State College since 2016 as the Program Coordinator of the Surgical technology program. Previously, she was the Department Chair at Brown Mackie College North Canton where she was employed for five years. She has experience in teaching various courses in the program along with experience in directing a surgical technology program. She graduated from Argosy University with a Master of Arts degree in Adult education and training and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in technical education and an Associate of Applied Science degree with concentration in surgical technology, both from The University of Akron.
As the program coordinator, she is able to utilize her skills, experience and dedication to the profession to build the surgical technology program and promote student success. Heather has served with ABHES and currently with ARCSTSA as a site visitor for accreditation services. In her free time, she enjoys golfing, watching sporting activities and spending any time with her husband, two children, family and friends.
