On May 30, 2018, 70 surgical technology and surgical assisting educators gathered at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Florida, for the second and final Accreditation Fundamentals for Educators (AFE) Workshop of 2018.

Attendees were engaged and enthusiastic, learning from board members and staff different ways to proactively address downward trends leading to noncompliance in the “Big Five” outcomes areas – Retention, Outcomes Assessment Examination (OAE), Graduate Placement, Graduate Satisfaction and Employer Satisfaction. Hands-on breakout sessions allowed attendees to put learning into action, and work together to analyze trends and create a Plan of Action (POA) following their thorough analysis.

Breaks provided networking opportunities among attendees, staff and board members, and a Beginner Site Visitor Training session was conducted in the afternoon.

ARC/STSA thanks all who made the spring AFE Workshop a productive and meaningful learning experience, including Board President Dr. Cynthia Casparis, Ed.D., Board Members Scott Geist, Robin Keith, Dorothy Rothgery and Kathy Snyder, as well as Executive Director Ronald Kruzel, and Directors Tamara Simmons and Christy Baily-Byers, who shared their time and knowledge presenting sessions, leading discussions, and answering questions.

Take a look at the charts below to see a breakdown of workshop attendees, plus photos from the event.
